The two sides met at the King Power Stadium with the hosts looking to complete a league double over the Hammers following their 2-1 away win in just the second game of their remarkable season. Arsenal hosted Crystal Palace, a fixture the Gunners have dominated during the Premier League era, having won 10 of 13 encounters. The day's other game saw Bournemouth play Liverpool with the Cherries seeking their first ever win over the Reds in either league or cup.

In contrast, it has not been a vintage campaign by Manchester United’s usual high standards. This afternoon the Reds host Everton, who have also underachieved so far this season. This fixture has thrown up some classic contests over the years, none more so that four years ago when the sides shared a 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.
